Fondation Milan

WHO WE ARE

Fondazione Milan ONLUS (Non-Profit Organisation of Social Utility) was founded on February 20th, 2003 by A.C. Milan. The initiative results from the determination of the Club that has always been active and sensitive towards people in need to set up a dedicated, recognisable, permanent and reliable structure with the purpose of constantly supporting social welfare activities having a fundamental impact on the well-being of the entire community. The Board of Directors includes among its members Adriano Galliani, Paolo Berlusconi, Leonardo de Araujo, Daniele Massaro and other managers of AC Milan to witness the profound sense of responsibility of the entire Club towards the Foundation, which is strongly supported by the active involvement of all the Club’s sectors (including players, management and Youth sector) and supporters as well. The Foundation operates in Italy and abroad to satisfy people’s basic needs and promote the full realisation of individual fundamental rights in social welfare, education and sports training sectors. Fondazione Milan is mainly engaged in supporting existing social welfare organisations (Associations, Foundations, Institutions) directly operating on the territory to assist people in need.
Since its establishment Fondazione Milan has supported 62 Projects, raising funds for a total amount of over 4.5 million euro. These include: funds for the purchase of five latest generation  paediatric ventilators to be used in the Neonatology Department of Mangiagalli Hospital in Milan; the creation of the new “Fondazione Milan” Centre For Angiomas and Vascular Malformations in Children at the Children’s Hospital Buzzi in Milan; building of the new Neonatology and Intensive Care Unit at the Holy Family Hospital in Nazareth; construction of a new multi-purpose sporting area inside Udayan,  a centre in Calcutta that hosts and treats children affected by leprosy or with leprous parents.

OUR PROJECTS

Since its inception, Fondazione Milan has supported 62 projects, raising proceeds of over 4,5 million euro. A number of the completed projects are listed below.

For the year 2010 Fondazione Milan is supporting, amongst others, the following three projects:

Fondazione Milan for L’Aquila
On April 6th, 2009  the region Abruzzo, and especially the city of L’Aquila, were struck by a terrible earthquake. AC Milan and Fondazione Milan have immediately reacted supporting some of the numerous first aid  initiatives: the First Team’s players have donated 11 prebuilt houses to face the emergency situation in the following weeks after the earthquake. Then the Club and its Foundation have identified a project especially focused on the needs of children and youngsters to support them in their educational development and training. For this reason they have initiated a project for the construction of a multi-purpose gym and a 5-a-side soccer pitch in Pagliare di Sassa, a small village in the suburbs of L’Aquila.
Fondazione Milan and Fondazione Stefano Borgonovo for the fight against ALS
Fondazione Milan has been supporting for two seasons the fight against ALS and is raising funds for research and care of ALS patients and their families. Thanks to the matches played by Milan Glories, the team captained by Franco Baresi and made of AC Milan great champions of the past, it was possible to raise funds to support several projects. As to patients care, two scholarships were granted to the ALS Center at the Hospital “Maggiore della Carità” in Novara, whereas research was supported through the Neurothon Association that over the last few months has been focusing its efforts on the realisation of a neural stem cell bank as a source of cells for patient treatment  and on the definition of a clinical trial protocol for ALS patients.
Together for Haiti
Following the earthquake on last 12th January in Haiti, the commitment and efforts to provide a concrete  help to a land already tormented by poverty and social conflicts  have become even more important. Fondazione Milan has decided to support the Francesca Rava Foundation - N.P.H. Italy, which has been engaged for over twenty years in Haiti in the "Safe Motherhood Project" that pursues the objective of providing puerperae free access to equipped healthcare facilities and adequate medical care and ensuring appropriate hygiene and sanitary conditions for a safe childbirth. In  Haiti there are no public facilities that offer assistance to women during childbirth and there are very few places, all of them supported by international humanitarian organisations,  capable of providing acceptable and free care.

MILAN FOUNDATION FOR THE "V. BUZZI" HOSPITAL OF MILAN

Development of the High Speciality Center on diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies in childhood.
Our new important project wchich will see Fondazione Milan involved in the 2008/09 season pays special attention to children. After having made all the efforts in fund-raising to create the new Neonatology and Intensive Care unit at the Holy Family Hospital in Nazareth, Fondazione Milan continues to look after “home” need and chooses to contribute to development of the High Speciality Center on diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies in childhood at the Buzzi Hospital in Milan.

The Fondazione milan’s project

Thanks to the Fondazione Milan and its contribution, the Centre will have new spaces for exclusive use, with machineries in the vanguard and specialized staff. Everything is necessary in order to officially consider the Centre a landmark on national scale. The Fondazione Milan participation can be quantified in 400 thousands Euro. The sum will allow on the one hand new improvements such as: hospital rooms, examination rooms and confinement rooms for the little patients and their parents, on the other hand  new medical equipment and a better technical know-how for this new Hospital’s area. The aim of the project is to create a comfortable place for the little patients providing suitable spaces to do specific tests and day hospital therapies in a place with a specialized and competent healthcare staff.
